Success or not success

A

If you can remove the object
- ventilate with BVM

If you cannot see the object

  • Don’t use laryngoscope.
  • Perform 5 chest compressions to try dislodge object
  • Recheck airway as per steps 1-4.
  • If unsuccessful start CPR

A
  • Gagging or vomiting
  • Foreign body may be difficult to remove or in pieces
  • Damage to soft tissue of the mouth or teeth
