Q
  1. Once a magazine sprinkler system is activated, what is the only way to secure the system?
A
  1. Although the remote control valve permits securing from any control station when the system was actuated automatically, the PRP valve must be manually reset prior to the manual control valve being returned to the NEUTRAL position. Otherwise sea water pressure from the PRPV will re-open the magazine sprinkler control valve. Likewise, when a system is actuated and secure from separate manual control stations, the actuating manual control valve must be returned to the NEUTRAL position first to prevent a re-opening of the sprinkler control valve.

Q
  1. What is a CLA-Valve?
A
  1. The diaphragm operated magazine sprinkler control valve is a normally closed, globe valve that is designed to open fully upon actuation, admitting seawater to the sprinkler system. This valve is also designed to fail in the closed position.

Q
  1. What are Bridge Wall Markings?
A
  1. That figure cast into the side of a valve that, in conjunction with a direction-of-flow arrow also cast on the valve, allows one to determine whether flow through the valve is over or under the seat.

Q
  1. What is the minimum overhead clearance of each spray pattern?
A
  1. Sprinkler heads installed above overhead .tracks shall be located between tracks and shall not be located within 4 inches vertically of the tracks to allow adequate water distribution above the tracks.

Q
  1. What are the alarms associated with Magazine Sprinklers?
A
  1. Three: F (Fire), FH (Activation), and FD (Flooding).
17
Q
  1. How much water is necessary to actuate a FD alarm?
A
  1. 1-3 inches of water on deck.
18
Q
  1. How many square feet does a F Alarm thermostat cover?
A
  1. Up to 250 Sq ft.
19
Q
  1. Which alarm is specific to Wet-Type Magazine Sprinklers?
A
  1. Additionally, there is a Low Pressure Alarm installed in conjunction with a wet type sprinkler system that provides an indication of a pressure drop in the pilot pressure piping below 40 PSI.
20
Q
  1. What is a PRPV?
A
  1. PRPV = Pneumatically-Released Pilot Valve
21
Q
  1. What is the OSI range of the PRPV?
A

The gauge will be calibrated in ounces per square inch (OSI) and will range from 0 to 36 OSI.

22
Q
  1. What is necessary to trip the PRPV?
A
  1. A differential pressure of at least 8 ounces per square inch (OSI) across the release diaphragm is necessary to trip PRPV.
