Macromolecules Flashcards
What are the four types of macromolecules?
1.) Carbohydrates
2.) Proteins
3.) Lipids
4.) Nucleic Acids
What is the monomer of Carbohydrates?
Monosaccharide (suagar)
What is the monomer of Protein?
Amino Acids
What is the monomer of Lipids/Fats?
Glycerol
What is the monomer of Nucleic Acids?
Nucleotide
What is the function of Carbohydrates?
short term energy
What is the function of protein?
they provide muscle structure support
What is the function of Lipids?
they store energy and act as cushion for organs.
What is the function of Nucleic Acid?
They carry genetic info
What foods are Carbohydrates found in?
Pasta, rice, bread, fruit
What foods are Proteins found in?
Animal muscle, Dairy, Fish, and Eggs
What foods are Lipids found in?
Butter, Oil, and Avocado Oil
Where are Nucleic Acids found in?
DNA and RNA
What is the difference between a Monomer and a Polymer?
Monomers form together to create Polymers.
