What is the function of WBC’s and RBC’s?
WBC: protects against illness
RBC: carry oxygen from the lungs and deliver it throughout body
What happens when there’s a low count of RBC’s?
What happens when its high?
It could signify anemia
It could signify dehydration and heart disease

it could increase your risk of getting infections
it could signify you have an infection
What is a complete blood count? (CBC)
It can determine if a patient has a condition such as anemia, and infection or leukemia.
What is a Lipid Panel?(Cholesterol)
the fastest blood test that accesses risks of a cardiovascular disease.
What is a Basic Metabolic Panel? (BMP)
It measures your bodies metabolism
What does a Complete Blood Count test measure?
It measures the 7 types of cells found in the blood. Ex: WBC, RBC, Hematocrit, Hemoglobin, Platelets, ect.
What does a Liquid Panel test measure?
Measures HLD (good cholesterol) LDL (bad) and trigycerides (type of fat)
What does a Basic Metabolic Panel measure? (BMP)
Measures Glucose, Electrolytes, BUN, Creatinine
What is a Hemoglobin and its location?
A hemoglobin is located in the Red Blood Cell and its job is to transfer oxygen in your blood from the lungs to the tissues.
What is a Hematocrit and what does it check for?
a test that measures the proportion of red blood cells in the blood
What is HDL?
it transports excess cholesterol to liver for removal
What is LDL?
it is responsible for transporting cholesterol to cells
What are the veins in the arm?
Cephalic vein, Basillic vein, and Median Cubital vein
Which vein is most commonly used in phlebotomy?
The Median Cubital Vein
