what is a .pkg file?
macOS installer that supports complex setup tasks using a setup wizard.
what is a .dmg file?
macOS installer for copying self-contained apps to an app folder.
what is the finder?
the default GUI application used to interact with the file system on your computer. It is the equivilent of the windows File Explorer.
what is the dock?
a feature of the GUI that allows you to launch and switch between applications.
what is the Spotlight?
a search utility on Mac that creates an index of all the items and files on your system, allowing you to quickly locate and access them.
what is the mission control feature?
enables the user to setup multiple virtual desktops with different sets of applications and backgrounds.
what does the F3 key do?
opens mission control
how can you discover which directory you are in, in the terminal?

what is the disk utility tool used for?
gives the ability to see any physical or logical disks or partitions.
what is the file vault?
disk encryption tool that encrypts the data thats stored on the hard drive or solid state device.
what is the remote disk?
a utility that allows to access an optical disc drive over the network.
what is the keychain?
an application designed to help manage passwords for all the different accounts.
what is system preferences?
its the equivalent of windows preferences.
what is mission control?
an application for facilitating multiple desktops. It is activated with the F3 key.
what is time machine?
the built in backup feature, that automatically backs up all the system files.
