what is an incremental backup?
backups only that which has changed since your last backup.
what is a differential backup?
backs up all the data that has been changed since the last full backup
what is grandfather to son (GFS)
tape media rotation scheme that allows some of your backup media to be taken to an offsite storage.
what is a son backup?
a daily back up
what is a father backup?
a weekly backup
what is a grandfather backup?
a monthly backup
what is a 3-2-1 backup rule?
three copies of your data, two different types of media and one copy being held offline and offsite
what is a redundant power supply?
provides two or more complete power supplies inside of one.
what is a surge?
an unexpected increase in the amount of voltage thats being provided
what is a sag?
an unexpected decrease in the amount of voltage provided
what is a spike?
a short transient voltage that can be due to a short circuit, a trip circuit breaker, a power outage or even a lightning strike.
what is a UPS?
uninterrupted power supply. combines the functionality of a surge suppressor with a battery backup.
