Q

Drilling

A

To cut holes into wood, composites, metal or plastics by a rotating machine bit secured into a drilling machine.
There are grooves on the bit which carries waste away whilst cutting.
To drill into metal you need to use a centre punch first.

Metal lathe

A

To cut away the metal with a tool set in place and moved along the material. It is spun in the process. 2 types- Facing off is where the end of the material is smoothed where as turning down reduces the diameter.
Can shape metals into complicated shapes.
