Give an overview of Act 1
In a storm 3 witches plan to meet Macbeth, Duncan’s army defeats rebels Thane of Cawdor title given to Macbeth, Witches tell Macbeth and Banquo prophecies of which Ross brings news that the first is true, Duncan plans visit to Macbeth’s, Lady Macbeth reads Macbeth’s letter on witches, he arrives she persuades him to kill Duncan, Duncan is welcomed to court, Macbeth decides not to kill Duncan but Lady Macbeth persuades him otherwise.
Give an overview of Act 2
Macbeth sees dagger leading him to Duncan, he kills him but doesn’t leave daggers which Lady Macbeth takes back to frame guards, Macduff discovers Duncan dead and Macbeth kills grooms and Donalbain and Malcolm flee (D to Ireland and M to England), Macduff reports guards killed Duncan and Macbeth is chosen for king.
Give and overview of Act 3
Banquo suspects Macbeth and Macbeth plans to kill Banquo and Fleance, Macbeth doesn’t tell Lady Macbeth his plans to murder, Murders kill Banquo but Fleance escapes, Banquet scene and Macbeth sees Banquo ghost which unsettles guests, Hecate tells witches their prophecies will kill Macbeth, suspicions of Macbeth are discussed and reports of Macduff going to England to join Malcolm.
Give an overview of Act 4
Witches give Macbeth 3 more prophecies, Macbeth’s men kill Lady Macduff and children, Macduff joins Malcolm and news of murder of his family and agree to invade Scotland.
Give an overview of Act 5
Lady Macbeth is observed sleepwalking, Malcolm’s army invades and Scot rebels join, Macbeth’s supporters are deserting and doctor cant cure Lady Macbeth (hears her confession), Malcolm’s army cuts branches as camouflage, Macbeth is told of Lady Macbeth’s death and wood is advancing and doubts witches, Malcolm’s army attacks, Macbeth kills Young Siward but is killed by Macduff (who is born by caesarean), Malcom is proclaimed King.
What are the witches first prophecies in Act 1 scene 3?
Macbeth shall become Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth shall become King, Banquo is lesser than Macbeth and greater, not so happy, yet much happier, his children shall be king but he will not.
What are the witches second prophecies in Act 4 scene 1?
Macbeth should beware Macduff, none of woman born shall harm Macbeth, Macbeth will never be vanquished until Great Birman Wood comes to high Dunsinane Hill.
