Define valid data
Data is valid if the experimental design allows the question to be answered and the procedures and instruments are suitable. A valid conclusion must be supported by valid data, collected under the specified conditions.
Define fiducial mark
A fiducial mark is an object place in the field of view for the observer to use as a point of reference.
Define anomalies
Anomalies are data points that do not fit the overall trend in the data.
Define ambiguous numbers
numbers written with one or more zeros at the end of the number that has no decimal point. In other words it is not possible to state with certainty how many significant figures a number has.
Define a margin of error
A margin of error shows the range within which value lies.
