M&M fluid management Flashcards
SVV= stroke volume variation
SVmax-SVmin/SVmean
concerns with normal saline given in large volumes
produces hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis. due to its high chloride content and lack of bicarbonate. in addition it can contribute to preoperative acute kidney injury.
colloid solutions- are prepared in NS and can cause hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis.
dextran
70,000 & 40,000 volume expander and reduces blood viscosity, von willebrand factor antigen, platelet adhesion, and red blood cell aggregation. association with acute kidney injury and failure.
hexastarch
plasma expander and less expensive than albumin. nephrotoxic.
men blood volumes ml/kg
75ml/kg
women blood volumes ml/kg
65ml/kg
hematocrit losses after what percent require a transfusion
10-20%
