What is the purpose Land Ordinance?
to pay off war debt.
What did the Land Ordinance do?
They sold the land West of the Appalachian Mountains and sold it to other citizens.
What law passed that gave them more land?
Northwest Ordinance.
What event did Shay’s rebellion lead to?
Constitutional Convention
What did the Virginia Plan want?
To give the larger states more representation. They thought that it should be that the rep should be based off of population.
What did the New Jersey plan want?
To all have the same representation no matter the size.
How did the Virginia plan and the New Jersey plan compromise?
They made the Great Compromise. Made the govt. a bi-cameral legislature. The house of reps is based on population so larger states have more and the senate has 2 reps for each state no matter the size.
What is the 3/5th plan?
3 out of every 5 slaves would count to be counted in the census every year.
Why did they have the 3/5th plan?
Becuase the northern states complained and said that the slaves should not count but the southern states thought they should so they would have more representation so they compromised.
