Males>females
Associated w EBV
What is the presentation of Hodgkin lymphoma?
Lymphadenopathy-rubbery, non tender, often cervical or supraclvicular
Night sweats, weight loss
Itch
What investigations are done for Hodgkin lymphoma?
FBC- normocytic anaemia, eosinophilia
Lymph node biopsy- Reed Sternberg cells= Owl sign
CT for staging
What is the staging of lymphoma?
i= 1 region II= 2 or more regions on same side of diaphragm III= 2 or more on opposite sides of diaphragm IV= extra nodal
What is the management of Hodgkin?
Combination chemo +/- radio
What type of lymphoma is most common?
Non Hodgkin
What type of non Hodgkin lymphoma is most common?
Diffuse large B cell
Wha are some common types of non Hodgkin?
Diffuse large B cell lymphoma
Follicular lymphoma
Burkitt’s
What is Diffuse large B cell lymphoma?
Most common type
High grade
What s follicular lymphoma?
common, low grade
What is Burkitt’s lymphoma?
High grade B cell lymphoma
What is the presentation of non Hodgkin?
Lymphadenopathy- rubbery, non tender
Fever, weight loss, night sweats, lethargy
Extranodal disease
What investigations are done for non Hodgkin?
FBC and blood film= normocytic anaemia
Excisional node biopsy- Burkitt’s= starry sky appearance
CT for staging
What is the management of non Hodgkin lymphoma?
Chemo and/or radio
What are some complications of lymphoma?
Tumour lysis syndrome- prevent with allopurinol
Superior vena cava syndrome
Superior mediastinal syndrome
Spinal cord compression
