Enlarged painless non tender rubbery lymph nodes.

Fever, wt loss, night sweats in 25%

Lymph node mass effect can cause symptoms

What is lymphoma? What are the types and what are their differences?

A

Cancer of the lymphocytes

Differentiated by histology

  • hodgkins (reed-sternberg )
  • non-hodgkins (all lymph nodes without reed-sternberg)

Staging of Hodgkin’s lymphoma?

A

I - confined to single lymph node
II - involvement of two or more on same side of diaphragm
III - involvement of nodes on both sides of the diaphragm
IV - spread beyond the lymph nodes e.g. Liver or bone marrow

Then A - no systemic features other than priutus
B - wt loss > 10% in 6 months, fever or night sweats
