Q

What occurs in the cell mediated response?

A

Receptors on T Cells bind to antigens on antigen presenting cells and cause T cell to divide rapidly by mitosis (clinal expansion). These cloned T cells can differentiate into different specialised T cells

Q

What do cytotoxic T cells do?

A

Kill abnormal cells and infected body cells. Release a protein called perforin which creates pores in the cell membrane allowing all substances to move into the cell causing cell death.
