virchow’s node indicates
thoracic or abdom malignancy,
-recieves afferent lymph drainage from left head, neck, chest, abdom, pelvis, bilateral lower extremities via thoracic duct
lymphadema definition
edemtous swelling from xs acc of lymph fluid in tissues caused by inadequeate drainage
either primary or secondary (regional lymphadenectomy, trauma, raditon, tumor, filariasis)
filariasis is round worm
clincal signs of lymphadema
- early stage dough like skin and pitting
- late stage thick, verrucous, fibrotic, hyperkeratotic skin
- failure to tent @dorsum of second toe (Kaposi Stemmer sign)
- squared off digits
- painless heaviness in extremity
