Inferior to and attached to caecum (ascending colon)

- Nodules reside inferior to surface invaginations (crypts)- like the tonsils
- Many M-fold cells in epithelial surface

A
- Prevents pathogen ingress through GI routes
- Prevents pathogen ingress arriving from ileum
- Crypts increase surface area
