Cancels the Recess of Speyer 1529 (allowing Lutheranism), and enforces the edict of worms but the princes don’t enforce this to avoid giving Charles more power. Lutherans feel very threatened.

What happened at the Colloquy of Augsburg?
Charles V tries to reconcile Lutherans and Catholics to no avail as they can’t agree on the Eucharist and sola fide. Charles needed the two sides to unite against the threat of the Ottoman Empire.
Melanchthon wrote the Augsburg Confession 1530 and presented them. It was a moderate statement of belief that even Eck accepted.

What happened at the Colloquy of Regensburg?
It was Charles V’s final attempt to reconcile the Catholics and Protestants but it ultimately failed. It was after Phillip of Hesse’s Bigamy scandal and since it fails, Charles V threatens war on the Lutherans but defers it for ages.

What was the history behind the Habsburg-Valois wars?
War between French King and Habsburgs over Burgundy, Naples and Flanders in France and Navarre in Spain. It then evolved into revenge for Henry II’s father King Francis I after he had held him hostage his entire childhood and humiliated them.
