Q

What happened at the Colloquy of Augsburg?

A

Charles V tries to reconcile Lutherans and Catholics to no avail as they can’t agree on the Eucharist and sola fide. Charles needed the two sides to unite against the threat of the Ottoman Empire.

Melanchthon wrote the Augsburg Confession 1530 and presented them. It was a moderate statement of belief that even Eck accepted.
