What medical conditions did the participants have?
They had either type 1 or type 2 diabetes as well as being diagnosed with depression.
But, volunteers were excluded if they had a history of substance abuse.
How many participants were there?
60 who had volunteered to take part
How many groups were there?
Two groups.
Participants were randomly assigned.
One had a placebo drug, the other had fluoxetine for depression.
How often did the participants take the medications no for how long?
Participants were given daily doses of medication for 8 weeks
What type of experiment was it?
It was a laboratory experiment using a randomised double blind technique
What did they do with the participants before the study started?
They screened them for depression using Becks Depression Theory
What did they assess the participants for and how did they do this?
Participants were reassessed for their depression after the 8 weeks had finished, and were assessed for their adherence by measuring their GHb levels (glycohaemoglobin), or blood sugar levels.
