Systemic auto-immune condition involving skin, joints, kidneys, blood cells, and nervous system but can affect almost any organ system

A
Immune system attacks cells and tissues resulting in inflammation and tissue damage
- also involves the formation of immune complexes (type III hypersensitivity)
