Lungs and Pleura Flashcards
Lungs and Pleural Layers
2 Layers
Inner visceral pleura- fused to the lung to form its outer surface
Outer parietal pleaura- Large enought to allow the lung to expand
Parietal Pleura
Consists of costal, daiphragmatic, cervical, and mediastinal portions
Costomediastinal Reflection
Junction of costal and mediastinal portions, contains the costomediastinal recess
Costodiaphragmetic reflection
Junction of the costal and diaphragmatic portions, contains the costodiaphragmatic recess
Anterior costomediastinal reflections
Apprach each other anteriorly beind rib 2, diverges laterally at rib 6 to become the costodiaphragmatic reflection
Left reflection
Diverges laterally at rib 4, diverges laterally at rib 6 to become the costodaiphramatic reflections
Costodiaphragmatic reflection
Cross at rib 8 at the mid-clavicular line, cross at rib 10 at the mid-azillary line, cross the neck of rib 12
Parietal and visceral pleura are continuous where?
Root of the lung and pulmonary ligament
What innervates the parietal pleura?
Intercostal and phrenic nerves
