Q

Describe the importance of LU 1.

A

Front Mu point.
Regulates the normal dispersing and descending of LU Qi. Can also D&D body fluids which help regulate water passages

  • Clear heat / use LU 5 (water) or LU 10 (ying spring)
  • Transform phlegm / use ST 40 (phlegm) or LU 5 (water pt good for water accumulation)
  • Descend LU Qi / use LU 7
  • Disseminate LU Qi
  • Regulate water passages
    > for acute edema use LI 4 (command pt) or LI 6 (regulate water passages)
    > for urinary dysfunction use ST 28, REN 3 & REN 4, BL 28/34

  • Promote descending fx of the Lung
  • Luo pt to expel wind
  • Confluent pt to open and regulate Ren Mai
    > for urinary/uterus dysfx use REN 3 & 4 or SP 6 (distal)

Water Point:
Regulate water passage
- phlegm/urinary retention
- acute edema
- enuresis or frequent urination

Clear heat from the LU, descend rebellious LU Qi
- heat tends to rise up
> cough, wheezing, shortness of breath
- heat condenses fluid
