Q

Sitting on edge of table

Support legs and hips in neutral position with hands behind the back.
Patient slumps the back into thoracic and lumbar flexion.
Maintain chin in neutral position to prevent neck/head flexion. Apply overpressure across shoulders to maintain flexion of the thoracic and lumbar spines. Patient then actively flexes cervical spine/head as far as possible. Apply overpressure to maintain flexion for all three parts of spine. Then hold foot in maximum dorsal flexion. While in this position patient actively straightens knee as much as possible. Repeat test on other leg, then with both legs at same time.

A

Slump Test

Increased tension in the neuromeningeal tract

When knee extends further, symptoms decrease with neck extension, or if positioning of patient increases symptoms.
