Lumbar Plexus Flashcards

1
Q

what does the lumbar plexus consist of

A

formed by the anterior rami of the lumbar spinal nerves L1-L4
- also recieves contributions from T12
- the anterior rami of teh L1-L4 spinal roots divide into several cords
- these cords then combine together to form 6 major peripheral nerves of the lumbar plexus
- these nerves then descend down posterior abdominal wall to reach lower limb, where they innervate

lumbar plexus innervates muscles + provides sensation from lower limbs
