Luke 13: Oh Jerusalem Jerusalem Flashcards
In Luke 13:1-9, Jesus emphasized that the people needed to have a personal need to repent or they too will perish and tell them a parable of a vineyard afterwards. What was the illustration that Tim uses for this point and how did he relate it to the passage?
He used the Hampton Court Vine, a 240 year old grape vine growing and located in London. The fig tree represents the Jewish tree, the Old Covenant and how they are not bearing fruit. You need to water it, fertilize it, and build a trench around it then it will bear fruit.
What are the 3 points and scriptures used in Tim Kernan’s sermon: Oh Jerusalem Jerusalem?

some people think they are falling away but in reality they are getting clipped
they are getting clipped because they aren’t making disciples, changing in their character, or getting stuff done

Commitment
*the crippled woman was committed to go to the synagogue for 18 years, then Jesus healed her

seeking advice
prayer to God
“eat” your bible
fully rely on God
In Luke 13:18-21, Luke uses the literary device of balance. Name them.
1) man and woman
2) large batch of dough
3) birds of the air
What is the message for Luke 13:18-21?
the fig tree will be cut down, it wont be fruitful and the mustard seed of faith will then replace it
What is the only Jersey you want to wear at the end?
the Kingdom of God one!
In Luke 13:22-35, Jesus reveals that there will be people who will be left behind in darkness. What was the illustration that Tim uses for this scripture?
Ni, from England, was reached out to and had discipleship done. He was not ready to be a disciple and was hit by a truck. He wakes up in the hospital and the same thing happens again. He finally gets a hold of the sister and 4 days later gets baptized.
