Q

According to Luke 12:2-3 when Jesus attacks the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, the quickest path to hypocrisy is what and why won’t it work?

A

Desiring to be adored by people, to impress people.
It cannot work because one cannot hide from God, he is omnipresent and omniscient.

Q

According to Luke 12:8-10, what is the difference between blaspheming against the Spirit and Jesus?

A

Blaspheming Jesus meant it was at the moment and could repent and be forgiven.
Blaspheming against the Spirit is the Word of God, or the message of God.
-this means you reject God and is the only unforgivable sin

16
Q

In Luke 12:11-12, if you don’t reject the Spirit you will be given the words to say.
What is the example that Kip provided from his life that displays this scripture?

A

Kip was 25 and was being criticized by older preachers. They told him that if he were to present the Gospel in a more loving and careful way, then he wouldn’t be persecuted. Kip simply said that all the prophets were persecuted, the apostles were persecuted and Jesus was perfect yet he was persecuted.
*to reject the message is blasphemy, but if you are “in the way” and you’re under persecution, God through His Holy Spirit will give you the message and the words to say!

17
Q

According to this passage, Jesus does not “take sides”

A

Luke 12:13-15

18
Q

Jesus says to watch out for greed in Luke 12:15. List they types of greed and what it does to someone

A

All kinds of greed: for money, possessions, influence, leadership, etc.
Greed fuels disagreements and disharmony
Greed almost always causes hurt to others, it is evil.

19
Q

According to the American Dream, “He who dies with the most toys, wins!”
What does Jesus say about this?

A

In Luke 12:16-21, Greed is all selfishness- In this parable it’s “all about me!”- I, I’ll, my, me, mine, myself!

20
Q

What is one of our greatest challenges in the movement and why?

A

Motivate “nationals” to return to their “home nations” because we have been discipled by the world to love the American Dream of greed.

21
Q

Kip mentioned Maika & Mark Carbonell and how they gave up their Filipino Dream and challenged us if we are willing to go anywhere and give up your dreams. What was the scripture he used to support their decision?

A

2 Corinthians 6:10

this is being rich towards God!

22
Q

In Luke 12:22-31, what was the message that Jesus was trying to portray?

A

The world runs after their desires, instead of trusting God with their life. And when you stress, you are not being a disciple of Jesus Christ!

23
Q

What was the difference in seeking the kingdom in Luke 12:31 and Matthew 6:33?

A

For Matthew, the Kingdom was a matter of priority, but Luke’s point is perhaps a bit stronger: There is the Kingdom and there’s nothing else!

24
Q

What did Jesus understand according to Luke 12:32-34?

A

His message will leave only a “little flock”

From this reference to His followers, Jesus understood that every life is precious and every life is fragile

25
Q

Because Kip considered himself as an “indestructible” minister, he was humbled by God in 2001-2002. What did he realize what God taught him how to treat others?

A

He learned he was fragile and you need to view your ministry as a “little flock” and so you must treat them very gently because that is how God treats us.

26
Q

In the midst of gentleness, each disciple is charged with a high expectation in Luke 12:33 for Missions Contribution. What is it?

A

Leaders should lead the way in giving over 20x because every good action, whether it is giving money or helping a soul, lays up a treasure for us in Heaven!

27
Q

According to Luke 12:35-37, what does it mean when Jesus arrives from the Wedding Banquet and what is his role for us?

A

The Second Coming and takes a role of a Servant.

28
Q

According to the parable in Luke 12:41-42, who is the passage directed to?

A

The leaders who are in charge of God’s servants

29
Q

In Luke 12:43-48, to whom much is given much is to be expected. So as leaders we have knowledge, talent and experience. What if someone did not use what was given to them?

A

The reason you have been invited to ICCM is so that you can be full-time!
If you are going to be full-time, you need to marry someone with this heart!

30
Q

In Luke 12:49-53, why is God considered a God of fire?

A

He brings a message of judgment

Jesus’ second coming is putting the pressure on, especially with family

31
Q

In Luke 12:57-59, God is our “adversary” because we have a debt to Him. He shares with us what it means to be “On the Way!”. List some ways that Jesus shows the seriousness we need to understand to be urgent and getting right with him.

A
Jesus' serious message brings "the pressure" to make a decision:
sand or rock
cold or hot
love or hated
sick or healed
goat or sheep
dark or light
bad fruit or good fruit
blind or seeing
broad road or narrow gate
lost or saved
hell or heaven

You decide! Be urgent and “above all else guard your heart!”
