Assimilation
A
- common in situation where individuals perceive the dominant culture to be superior for more success and personal growth
Example: an individual for a non-western country goes to the us and fully adopts emetic an customs, values and language while losing ties with their cultural origins
Example food: Chinese noodles with spaghetti that has nothing to do with traditional chinese noodles anymore

Integration
A
- often seen as most adaptive approach where individuals can maintain cultural identity but also participating effectively in the society where they live
- example: person from India working in the UK integrating by balancing both British and Indian cultures in their daily life
Example: traditional Chinese noodles with vegetables of host country on top that is not typically used in China

Separation
A
- strong value is placed in preserving original cultural identity or when there is resistance to the dominant culture
- example: an immigrant community in a European city may live in a close-knit community where 5ey can preserve their cultural practices without the influence from the host countries culture
Example: traditional Chinese noodles that you can only find like that in China.

Marginalization
A
- often the result of exclusion or discrimination and can be caused by global crisis
- depends also on the openness and inclusivity of the host country
- example: refugees find themselves in a new country may feel disconnected both from their culture of origin and the new culture
Example: at home inspired pasta that has nothing to do with traditional Chinese cuisine and also nothing with host country culture
