Q

What is the main disadvantage of metallic-ash detergent oil

A

Found that it was good as it minimised spark plug fouling and pre-ignition but the cleaning action loosened carbon deposits and sludge which would end up blocking oil passages and filters

Q

Ashless dispersant oil

A

Doesn’t have the carbon-forming restrictions of straight mineral oil and it doesn’t form ash deposits as detergent oil does. Is generally pretty good
