Problems from L5
Sural, Tibial, Common Peroneal Nerves all come from L5 so their myotomes will be affected
Sciatic nerve
Runs right down both legs
Root is from L4-S3
Nerve tests
Slump test
Straight leg raise
Tinnels test below medial malleolus
L1 Dermatome and Myotome
Dermatome= over the inguinal ligament
Myotome= N/A
L2 dermatome and myotome
dermatome= middle upper thigh
myotome= hip flexors
L3 dermatome and myotome
Dermatome= inner upper thigh
Myotome= knee extensors (quads)
L4 dermatome and myotome
dermatome= inner lower leg
myotome= Tibialis Anterior
L5 dermatome and myotome
dermatome= outside lower leg, dorsal foot
myotome= toe extensors
S1 dermatome and myotome
Dermatome= posterior calf, lateral foot
Myotome= peroneals, hamstrings
