Gluteus Maximus
Action: Extends the hip
Attachment: Gluteal surface of the ilium, iliac crest, posterior border of the ilium
Insertion: Gluteal Tuberosity
Gluteus Minimus
Action: Abducts the hip
Attachment: Gluteal surface of the ilium to the anterior border of the ilium
Insertion: Greater Trochanter
Gluteus Medius
Action: Abducts the hip
Attachment: Gluteal surface of the ilium/iliac crest
Insertion: Greater Trochanter
Bicep Femoris
Action: Extends the hip. All 3 hamstrings help with flexion at the trunk and control knee flexion
Attachment: Ischial Tuberosity
Insertion: Head of fibula and lateral tibial condyle
Semimembranosus
Action: Extends the hip. Medial rotates when the knee is flexed and aids knee flexion
Attachment: Ischial Tuberosity
Insertion: Medial tibial condyle
Semitendinosus
Action: Extends the hip and helps with medial rotation when the knee is flexed. Aids knee flexion.
Attachment: Ischial Tuberosity
Insertion: Medial tibial condyle
Adductor Magnus
Action: Adducts the hip
Attachment: Ischial Tuberosity and ischiopubic ramus
Insertion: Linea aspera and greater trochanter
Adductor Longus
Action: Adducts the hip
Attachment: Obtrurator crest
Insertion: Linea Aspera
Adductor Brevis
Action: Adducts the hip
Attachment: Lateral part of the front of the body and inferior ramus of the pubis
Insertion: Linea Aspera
