Lower Extremity Ligaments Flashcards
acetabulofemoral joint
enarthroidial, large ROM, femur with acetabulum
sacroiliac joint
located posteriorly, gliding joint, strong ligaments
pubic symphysis
located anteriorly, amphiarthroidal
Hip Ligaments
Iliofemoral (Y) - prevents hyperextension
pubofemoral - limits extension and abduction
ischiofemoral - limits internal rotation
tibiofemoral joint
ginglymus/trochogimglymus due to some internal/external rotation when flexing
patellofemoral joint
arthroidal, but glides
Knee ligaments
anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, medial and lateral collateral ligaments
tibiofibular joint
syndesmotic amphiarthrodial, proximal and distal, interosseous membrane provides support
lower leg ligaments
anterior tibiofibular ligament (distal one - high ankle sprain), posterior tibiofibular (proximal and distal for both)
talocrural joint
ginglymus, talus, distal tibia and fibula
subtalar joint
gliding, arthodial, inversion and eversion
ankle ligaments
tibiofibular joint - distal post/ant tibiofibular ligaments
talocrural joint - “deltoid”, ATF, PTF, calcaneofibular
foot joints
tarsometatarsal (TMT) gliding
metatarsophalangeal (MTP) condyloid
interphalangeal hinge
