He feels that Jack is dictatorial and this feeling continues throughout the novel. He is lenient with Jack at the beginning however as the novel progresses, he becomes more resentful of Jack.

Piggy is the most intelligent boy on the island because sees reason in the madness of the other boys’ actions. He always tries to find the most logical solution.

World War 2 is happening.
What does the death of the airman signify?
It signifies the end of humanity.
Why is the theme of good and evil central to the novel?
It is central to the novel because the boys come from a good upbringing where order and discipline would have been central however as the novel progresses and the boys spend more time on the island, the inner evil comes out in the bots especially Roger and Jack. It symbolises the fact that we all have evil within us.
