  • there were 2 groups of geese
  • one (experimental group) hatched in an incubator infront of Lorenz
  • one (control group) hatched in a normal setting infront of their mother

Explain the results of the findings of Lorenz’ study.

A
  • experimental group followed Lorenz
  • control group followed mother
  • this occured even when the baby geese were mxied up
  • Lorenz suggested this was due to imprinting and this is a process that is irreversible and long lasting and must occur during the critical period
  • imprinting could effect who they mate with in the future (will chose the same mate as what they imprinted on)
