Longissimus Muscles (ORIGIN)- Capitis, Cervicis, Thoracis
Capitis: Transverse processes of the upper thoracic vertebrae and lower cervical vertebrae
Cervicis: Transverse processes of the upper thoracic vertebrae
Thoracis: Common tendon attached to the iliac crest, sacrum, and lumbar vertebrae.
Longissimus Muscles (INSERTION)- Capitis, Cervicis, Thoracis
Capitis: Mastoid process of the temporal bone
Cervicis: Transverse processes of C2-C6
Thoracis: Ribs between the tubercles and angles and transverse processes of thoracic vertebrae
Longissimus Muscles (INNERVATION)
Posterior rami of the spinal nerves
Longissimus Muscles (BLOOD SUPPLY)
Lateral sacral artery and posterior intercostal arteries
Longissimus Muscles (ACTION)
Extending the back, bending the neck, and flexing the back and neck to the side
