What are the features of the episodic memory?

A
  • Refers to the ability to recall events from our lives (like a diary)
  • Memories are time-stamped so we remember when and what happened
  • There will be lots of elements to a single memory e.g. people, places, objects, behaviours

  • Contains shared knowledge of the world, impressive number of concepts, and immense collection of material which is being constantly added to
  • Not timestamped
  • According to Tulving, it is less vulnerable to distortion and forgetting than episodic
