Discourages use of private transport
Invests in public transport (transport for London) - efficiency and safety

Invests in bicycle lanes - promotes cycling superhighways
Congestion charge - drivers are charged on entry to the congestion zone. This discourages drivers during peak hours, encourages public transport and reduces congestion
T charge - older vehicles also need to meet a minimum Euro emission standard or pay a daily extra charge
Waste disposal strategies
Recycling - each borough is responsible for providing waste and recycling collections
Introducing clothes recycling and electrical items
Widely encouraged across the city through the use of recycling bins
Housing
Regeneration of a brownfield site in the Docklands and Stratford: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Before: once an abandoned industrial area used as a dumping ground for industrial and domestic waste
Land was polluted with contaminants
After: building materials were low carbon, homes are needy and water efficient with smart meters and low water showers
Local shops and community facilities
Cycle lanes and access to the Olympic sports facilities encourages exercise
Education
Mayer of Londons education programme delivery plan offers a good school place for every child in London
Many charities are working to improve education
Young roots - helping young refugees and asylum realise their potential, through education activities
The Princes’ trust - creating brighter futures empowering them to get jobs, education and training
Health
NHS provides free health care to all citizens in the UK
Dental care is also provided free of charge for children, pregnant women and people receiving income support
Transport strategies aim to reduce pollution, decreasing the risk of respiratory diseases such as asthma and lung cancer
Employment
The Lower Lea Valley in East London was very deprived ketch high rates of unemployment
The 2012 Olympic Games created thousands of temporary jobs during the construction of the Olympic Park
There has also been 12000 permanent jobs created in the area in retail and the new sports sites
Regeneration has boosted the tourism industry
Many people still visit the Olympic Park for sports, concerts, shopping at Westfield Stratford
