Well functioning Supply Chain are critical to achieving commodity security, which exists when every person is able to obtain and use essential Medicines whenever they are needed

LOGISTICS CYCLE

A

This process involves a number of steps and activities in order to obtain a successful Logistics System.
❖1. Products Selection: done based on disease prevalence/priority and essential Medicines List available.
❖2. Forecasting and Procurement: estimation of the quantities for each selected product and a process of procuring and receiving the order/products.
❖3. Storage and Distribution : It is necessary to ensure proper storage condition after receiving products.
❖4. Servicing Customers: after distribution medicines are made available for patients as needed.

MAX-MIN INVENTORY CONTROL SYSTEM

A

❖The purpose is to inform personnel when and how much of commodities to order and to maintain an appropriate Stock level to meet the needs of the patients
❖It also prevents Shortages, oversupply and expiry of drugs.

❖Health Centers: Maximum Stock level is 4months, Minimum stock level is 2months and emergency order point is 0.5months.
❖DHO: Maximum Stock level is 3 month, Minimum stock level is 2 months and emergency order point is 0.5months
