Principle
Correction of an AI-Sacrum
Analysis - 4 years and younger
- Lay child down prone, on your lap, parents lap, on the table or on a blanket on the ground
- Drop the diaper to examine the gluteal crease
- Apply lateral-medial pressure on both sides of the buttocks
- Use both hands with equal pressure (backs of hands)
- The gluteal crease will deviate toward the side of the AI-Sacrum
Analysis 5 years and older
Child standing. Look for
- Body rotation of lowest freely moveable lumbar
- Tense and strained lower erector spinae muscle
- Elevated iliac crest
- -D on the involved side
- Tight/tense tender posterior SI ligament
All found on the side of AI sacrum
Correction of AI sacrum
PP - prone with hip in flexion, propped up
DS - side opposite AI sacrum
CP - 4 years and younger = pad of pinky with hand SUPINATED
5 years and older = pad of thumb with the hand PRONATED
SCP - mid-point of the sacrotuberous ligament prober contact is the most important
LOC - starts A-P, I-S, M-L; ends A-P, I-S
SH - superior hand rests lightly over the lowest lumbar moving up the spine as the muscles relax until your reach the occiput
If the contact is correct the patient
Will relax and breathe more shallow
You may feel a pulsation in both your contact hand and stabilization hand as
The CSF pump works
The para-spinal muscles under your stabilization hand should
Relax
