Loftus And Palmer (1974) Flashcards
Alternative evidence?
Loftus (1979) asked so to account the colour of a stolen purse (red) later she asked again using leading questions and they still said it was red contradicting the original research
Buckhout(1980) mugging shown on tv identity parade of 6 17% of getting it right but only 14% did. Supports as it shows even when they don’t know they’re in a study recall is poor
Taylor and cutshall(1995) interviews 13 people who saw a robbery 4 months after with 2 misleading questions they found the ps were not led this suggests the l and p can only be applied in a lab
Methodology:
High levels of control cause and effect etc it was also repeated as the got the same result and therefore reliable.
Low In Eco validity as it didn’t reflect real life
They were aware they were in the study…demand characteristics
Lack population validity as the sample was unrepresentative as just american.
No informed constant as they we’re mislead on aims
