  2. Poor quality reduces fish survival and growth and reduces the production capacity of TMFF
  3. It must be free of Nutrients, pesticides, sewage and other wastes
  4. TMFF draws pure bore water from under the dunes…. ½ million liters of water taken every year, water is cold and needs to be heated

1. Precipitation: Site selection is dependent on water, lack of rainfall can impact bore water supply
2. Droughts can impact production capacity of a fish farm
3. TMFF can be impacted by El Niño
(Brings drought)

  1. Normally for Aquaculure, pond floors contain impervious soil (soil that water cant get through) such as clay
  2. However TMFF uses tanks
  3. TMFF requires a porous, sandy soil which allows for easy extraction of water

  2. Only 500 km away
  3. B/4 1988: The Sydney consumer= no live Barramundi available
  4. Live fish shipped to Sydney distributor in bulk transport truck
  5. Main markets is restaurants with fish tanks esp. in China Town, Cabramatta, Blacktown and Darling Harbour
  6. The restaurants become known for offering “Fresh Barramundi”
  7. A single distributer, provides fresh fish of a preferred size ( 600-800g) to Sydney restaurants who have their own live fish facilities

  2. Attractions: beaches, national parks, wineries, golf courses, sand dunes, spa treatments, boating, fishing

  4. Accomodation is available at nearby “Kookaburra Cottages’ for extended edu visits
