Localisation Flashcards
What is localisation
That particular areas of the brain are responsible for particular cognitive functions
What is the brocas area responsible for
Language production
What is Wernickes area responsible for
language comprehension
Where is language localised
In the left hemisphere
What is the motor area responsible for
muscular constractions
What is the somatosensory area responsible for
recieving sensory information
What is the visual area responsible for
it recieves and processes visual info
What is the auditory area responsible for
anaylsing and processing acoustic info
What is Broca Aphasia
damage to Broca area could cause speech impairments but comprehension is still intact
What is Wernickes Aphasia
Damage to wernickes area cause comprehension impairements. But production is still in tact
What is some evaluations of Localisations
Perception of Face parts (2010)
Recognising faces spread across 3 parts: FFA, OFA, fSTS
This proves functions are not localised in one specific place.
Neuroimaging of love
Different types of love involve different areas of the brain
Proving love as a function is not localised
