Local Anesthesia Flashcards
There are two approaches for the V(2) block. What are they?
- “high” PSA block
2. Gow-gates block approach
What is the function of the PSA?
pulpal anesthesia in the maxillary third, second, and first molars in MOST patients.
(however, in some patients the MB root of the maxillary molar is not innervated by the PSA nerve block
Where is the injection site for the PSA?
is the PSA nerve at the posterior superior alveolar foramina on the infratemporal surface of the maxilla, posterosuperior and medial to the maxillary tuberosity
What is the function of the Gow-gates mandibular block approach?
anesthetized the inferior alveolar , mental, incisive, lingual, mylohyoid, and auriculotemporal as well as the long buccal nerves in most cases.
Where is the injection site for the Gow-gates mandibular block?
