Who can get Direct Subsidized Loans?
Available to undergraduate students with financial need
Who can get Direct Unsubsidized Loans?
Available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need
Who can get Parent Plus Loans?
Must be a biological or adoptive parent, not have an adverse credit history, and meet the general eligibility requirements (which the child must meet as well)
Eligibility requirements for Graduate Plus Loans
Be a graduate or professional student enrolled at least half-time at an eligible school in a program leading to a graduate or professional degree or certificate;
not have an adverse credit history (unless meet certain additional requirements); and
meet the general eligibility requirements for federal student aid

Available to full-time students getting a doctorate in one of the following:
Dentistry
Pharmacy (bachelor’s degree also eligible)
Podiatric medicine
Optometry
Veterinary medicine
Eligibility requirements for Loans for Disadvantaged Students (LDS)
Available to full-time students getting a doctorate in one of the following:
Allopathic medicine
Osteopathic medicine
Dentistry
Pharmacy (bachelor’s degree also eligible)

Which loans are eligible for PSLF by themselves?
Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Graduate Plus Loans
Which loans can qualify for PSLF through Consolidation?
FFEL loans, HPSL loans and LDS loans
Which payment plan are PPL loans eligible for?
Parent Plus loans that have been consolidated are limited to ICR
