Loads On Bearings / Hyrdrodynamic Bearings Flashcards
This load on bearing shifts on arc less than 180 degrees . Also this bearings pushes up on the bearing.. Is the bearing reciprocating load or oscillating load
Oscillating Load
The journal pulls down on this bearing and the load shifts 180 degresss from one side of bearing , which load on the bearing is this
Reciprocating load
The bearing to align its bore with sag in the shaft of heavy rotor installation. This bearing seat is usually used on very large turbines
Spherical seat
.This bearing depends on the rotation of the shaft to deal oil into the loaded area, it can also be split bearing or a bushing
.The oil inlet is located in the unloaded area
.This normal operating speed the bearing is supported on a full film of oil
Hydrodynamic Bearings
These bearings are good for heavy shock loads , this bearing does not depend on shaft rotation to drag oil into the loaded area , oil is admitted through holes or a slot into pockets called recess.
Hydrostatic bearings
This bearing is a stationary base ring with tilting segments of bearing material attaches to its face
Tilting pad thrust bearing
What are some advantages of Babbitt?
. Strength
. High embeddabilty
. Good thrmal conductivity
. Good corrosion resistance
. Excellent bonaabilty and low cost
What is brinelling
. Hammer blows to the bearing during installation
. Droping the bearing on hard surface
. Shook loading on the machine from any source
What is false brinelling
. The bearing is not Turning
. The vibration causes the film of lubricant between the rolling elements
. The rolling elements vibrating agansit the race way
Correct ammount of lubraiction should be what ?
1/3 and 1/2 way up the lowest rolling element
