what is Recruitment policy
• clear recruitment procedures aims to reduce the risk of unsuitable people working with vulnerable adults

what is a Staff training policy
• staff should complete training/courses in safeguarding
• the training must be related to the job role (adults/children)
what is On the Job training
• all new staff must have an induction
• care certificate can support this
• probation contract id s period where workers are on trial
• appraisals are a formal review to reflect progress
• supervision
• mentoring
what is the DBS policy
• work closely with police to safeguard vulnerable people
-> requests for barred lists
-> deciding if people should be put onto the list
-> ensure people on list aren’t able to work with vulnerable people
what is a Multi-agency approach?
• safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
-> ensures concerns are picked up early
-> share information
-> provide varied insight
-> work consistently
• working together is the best way to work
what are Risk assessment policies
• everything in a service has to be risk assessed
• they’re a legal requirement to every service
• each service is personally responsible
what are Complaints procedures
• must be easy to access and easy to read
• promotes trust
• must be responded to promptly
• encourages people to report things
• they’re important because they feel empowered
• they help services to improve with feedback
role of the DPO/DSO
• designated protection officer/ designated safeguarding officer
• person you go to when you have a concern
• info kept on a need to know basis
• support and guidance to staff on how to respond and react
