What are the 6 things NGB’s have to offer?
Promotion, development, infrastructure, policies and initiatives, funding and support.
What does promotion involve?
Participation - equality, gender, ages, minorities.
Popularity - within age groups, schools, regions.
Media - publicise events, success and initiatives (funding)
What does development involve?
Elite training and development squads.
Coaching awards - level 1 up to full license in Football, Rugby, Netball.
Officials - Courses and training for officials at all levels.
What does infrastructure involve?
Competitions - U12 to senior in all sports.
Makes and enforces rules, sanctions and disciplinary procedures (looms, fines)
Assists with bidding process for facility development.
Give a ‘national picture’/vision and provides support and guidance to members.
What does funding involve?
Funding from Sport England/Lottery/Gov Access to grants for clubs and teams. Gives advice Membership fees - clubs, training and playing. Advertising, commercialism, merchandise. Advice on ticket prices.
What does policies and initatives involve?
Enforces anti-doping rules - links to WADA.
Promotes fair play - e.g. FA ‘Respect’ campaign.
Community projects.
Safeguarding.
What does support involve?
Technical advice - e.g. the FA 3G/4G artificial surfaces.
