House style
Many organisations will have an established brand identity that includes set colour schemes, design styles, fonts and logos. It is likely that any new creative media product will have to follow the organisation’s own house style so that it is consistent and recognisable.
Target audience
This is usually the final viewer or consumer of the product that is created. However, it can also be the person who will also be the user of the pre-production document.
Client
The person, organisation or company that you are producing the work for.
Work flow
This is the order that the activities will be completed in but can also be a sequence within a software application between importing assets and exploring the final output.
Hardware
The equipment used.
Software
Programs or applications used to create pre-production documents [which is different to the software used for reports or web research].
Resources
Covers both hardware, software and people.
Digitising
Means making a digital copy that can be stored and distributed electronically.
Recce
An abbreviation for reconnaissance and is a term that is commonly used for media projects. A visit to a specific location that will be used for recording processes.
Royalty free
Means that the work can be used without the need to pay royalties (i.e. a fee) each time. However, the work will still be copyrighted. Note that royalty free is very different from copyright free.
Creative Commons (CC)
A licence agreement the creator chooses that lets you use that person’s copyrighted resources.
Certification
Is the process of informing the audience broadly on the suitability of content. It is an important consideration when thinking about a target audience.
Censorship
Is when artists/ filmmakers are not allowed to show their complete work.
