(CCA) The Civil Contingencies Act 2004
A legislation that sets out roles and responsibilities for individuals that are involved in emergency preparation and responding to it.
Examples of contingency plans include:
- Major incident plans
-Plans for management of mass casualties
-Shelter and evacuation
-Fire, police or health service response plans
-Lockdown or controlled > access plans
Control Of Substances Hazardous To Health 2002 (COSHH)
The COSHH file should:
- Identify and name the hazardous substance
- State where the hazardous substance is kept
- Identify what the hazardous labels on the container mean
- State the maximum amount of time it is safe to be exposed to them
R.I.D.D.O.R- Reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations (2013)
Requires employers to keep written records of and to report following incidents to health and safety executive (HSE)
-Work related accidents that cause death
-Work related accidents that cause serious injury e.g., loss or reduction of sight, serious burns, crush injuries causing internal organ bleeding damage etc
-Incidents that have potential to cause harm e.g., collapse of equipment, explosions or fires, chemical spills and leaks, gas leaks, overflowing drains
-Diagnosed cases of certain work-related diseases e.g., occupational dermatitis, asthma, cancer (occupational)
