What is abuse?
Behaving in a negative or harmful way towards another individual or a group of people
What is direct discrimination?
Intentionally put someone at a disadvantage or treating them unfairly based on their differences
What is indirect discrimination?
When something disadvantages, some people or particular group
What an indirect discrimination also be seen as
Accidental
What is prejudice?
A negative attitude or dislike to an individual group based on ill informed personal opinion 
What is stereotyping?
When offensive and exaggerated generalisation are made about a particular group of people
What is labelling?
Identifying people as a member of a particular group,with the assumption that they are all the same
What is bullying?
A repeated behaviour intended to physically or psychologically hurt
Who can be affected by discrimination?
Anyone?
How can discrimination impact an individual?
Disempower them
Low self-esteem
Poor health and well-being
Unfair treatment
Mental health problems
Why might an individual become disempowered?
Lack of control over their life
Feel unwanted
Feel unimportant
Disengaged with life
Loss of independence
Why might someone have low self-esteem?
Loss of self-confidence
And feeling worthless
Why might someone have poor health and well-being?
Having physical injuries
Medication not given correctly
health worsening
Why might someone have unfair treatment
Don’t receive care that they are entitled to
Don’t receive support that they are entitled to
