Benefits:
Portability
Durability
Cost
What are the drawbacks for using an external Hard Disk Drive (HDD)?
Drawbacks:
Not as reliable as an SSD
Portability (has moving parts)
When might paper based storage be useful?
Situations without power/internet.
Lower income countries with poor infrastructure.
Low demand jobs where a piece of paper is quickest method for storing and retrieving data
What are the reasons for using Magnetic Storage?
Large capacity
Cheap
Useful for large storage needs like archiving and backups
What are the benefits of Cloud storage?
Benefits:
Can access data from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection
Unlimited Capacity
Relatively cheap (Monthly Payments)
What are the downsides to Solid State Storage?
Cost, can be expensive
Storage capacity
Durability, can only be written to so many times
Why might a photographer want to use a MicroSD Card for their camera?
Portability, a Micro SD card is very small and lightweight
Speed, even when taking high quality photos the transfer speeds of an SD Card should keep up
Cost, considering the last two, a small MicroSD shouldn’t cost much at all
