Memory is a computer component that holds the instructions and data

The two types are: volatile and non-volatile

A

Volatile storage - temporary this means instructions ad data saved gets deleted wen the computer system isn’t powered

Non-Volatile - is storage that saves data even when the computer system isn’t powered

state two characteristics?

A

Random access memory is volatile (temporary) it stores all running programmes that currently on

  • Programmes are copied from storage to RAM so that the programme is able to access CPU
  • size is usually 4-32 GB
